Dr Gross resurfaced my right hip in 2005 and my left hip a week and a half ago. Both went great and I am on my way back to healing and being pain free. I highly recommend Dr Gross. Staff and surgical center were also great!!

Dr. Gross resurfaced my right hip in September 2013. I wanted to write this review to say how thankful and grateful I am that he was able to perform this surgery on me. I have had no more pain since the surgery, and my life has changed so much for the better! I am eternally grateful to Dr. Gross for his expertise and desire to help patients be free from pain. His staff was also very helpful and professional.

Hi. Dr. Gross gave me an HSR on both sides, right in 2012, left in 2014. He is the best medical professional I have ever met. He changed my life. The negative reviews on here make no sense to me, and at least two of them mention a different doctor, not Dr. Gross. Some people will complain about anything. Dr. Gross is the best, period.

I found Dr. Gross while looking for an in-network orthopedic surgeon for a hip condition. After meeting him and his crew I felt a resurfacing would be the way to go. I found the entire staff to be organized and everyone understood, what I needed to understand moving forward. I have read a few reviews where they felt Dr. Gross did not communicate well with them or short timed them. I did not find this at all. He asked questions and let me talk my way through it and he made a few comments. he was very patient as was the entire staff. Every visit was easy, and I felt I was listened to by all personnel. The financing officer was clear as how things would go, and when the insurance company took another path, she explained it all to me and went just how it should. Through the surgery, the prep team told me exactly what I would feel and how, and they were right. I was up walking on crutches, no more than 3 hours after my surgery. I followed instructions and its all been very evasive. I rarely even needed my heavy meds. I still have them. I went to his website and saw the videos. I gotta say, my reaction was.....this is gonna hurt. But all in all, not nearly as much as not getting it done. I give the whole crew kudos.

After two years of pain and a reluctance to have a total hip replacement I found Dr. Gross on line and contacted his office regarding the hip resurfacing. I contacted an old friend that had Dr. Gross resurface his hip six years ago when he was fifty six and he is actively playing basketball and in no pain. I initiated contact with the office on line and made arrangements for Dr. Gross to review my records. The office was efficient especially through email and I scheduled an office visit. It takes 8 hours to drive to Colombia from my home. The office visit went well, the surgery was scheduled. The surgery took about 1-1/2 hours and I was released a few hours later after recovery. The doctor visited the next morning and I was released to go home. It has been 7 days from the surgery and I no longer have the hip pain, I can walk for a short distance without a cane and I can sleep again.
I had numerous doctors recommend a full hip replacement. I wanted a procedure that would leave as much of my bone intact as possible. Dr. Gross has a 99% success rate after 10 years and thousands of procedures.
This was my first major surgery. I could not have asked for his staff to be more friendly, his office to be more organized or for the outcome to provide more relief from pain. I am planning my next trip and look forward to snow skiing, paddleboarding and kiteboarding after my six month recovery. I can't wait to get back to my normal activities without the apprehension of spending days in pain from those things I love to do.
I hope you recognize this as the ultimate recommendation that I am able to draft on behalf of Dr. Gross and his staff regarding my recent surgery.
Today is three weeks since my surgery. I am walking now without a cane and feel like my limp is now imperceptible. I can go up and down stairs without the use of handrails. I have been out on my boat twice with no assistance. Walked the beach and did a mile on the treadmill two days ago. I have no pain walking or sleeping. If I move my leg laterally
I do feel some muscle ache, no joint pain.
Disregard any review not related to Dr. Gross or his staff. There are many doctors in his group. The negative comments seem to be coming from other offices or paperwork issues. I haven't found a negative comment related to Dr. Gross's work or staff.
Update as of June 22, 2018. I didn't realize over 700 people would read the review of my surgery. I am now 9 months out and just spent most of last month in Central America traveling with my 22 year old son. Hiked, surfed, paddled and worked out without concern or pain in my left hip. Yesterday I ran the beach in both the soft white sand and along the shore break I believe the distance is about 2-1/2 miles without regard for distance. My right hip is now having similar symptoms as my left hip before surgery. When the pain threshold begins to alter my lifestyle I will immediately schedule surgery with Dr. Gross on my right hip and be thankful there is a solution to such a debilitating condition. I wish you well and hope this testimony helps you make a treatment decision right for you.

Tonight I bent over and put my socks on...PAIN FREE. I am 42 and the first doctor said I was too young for a hip replacement. TWO doctors later I landed in Dr Gross's office. He not only explained how my body likely got into this position but how he was going to fix it. Six months and 1 day ago, I had a hip surface replacement. Dr Gross is intelligent, matter-of-fact and a National authority in this field. His bedside manner is fabulous and his sense of humor appreciated. when and if I need to have my other hip done he will be the man to do it. I cannot say enough about this man and how my life today is so vastly different from 6 and a half months ago. Nancy and Crystal? (with the puzzle piece necklace) in his office are amazing...and the surgery center staff...I wish I could remember all of their names...because they were INCREDIBLE. This TEAM made a huge difference in the quality of MY life.

My father broke his hip and he was in terrible pain. He is 87 years old and not in great health. My father was seen by a couple of surgeons at the Providence NE Hospital.
I was concerned about my dad's health and his pain level.
Doctor Gross examined him and spoke to me about the surgery. Successful hip replacement was his goal but it might be difficult for my father health wise at his age. We spoke for a while and he asked me if I wanted my father to have the surgery. I said if he was willing to be my father's surgeon, I would like for him to do it. He put the biggest smile on his face and said, " thank you for your confidence."
Doctor Gross is patient, kind and a very talented surgeon. When he came to speak to me after the surgery he had that same smile and I knew I had chosen the best Orthopedic surgeon.
Not only was the surgery a success but my father is recovering well. He keeps asking me to thank Doctor Gross for giving him a new hip.

I'm a physician. My wife was in terrible pain, on narcotics, incapacitated and I found Dr. Gross. There were only 2 doctors in the country with more experience, and we could travel to SC by car, meaning no navigating airports and planes postop. Dr. Gross performed her hip resurfacing now 3 years ago. She is pain free. She roller skates, plays roller derby, mountain bikes and snowboards. Dr. Gross gave me my wife back. He recently did the same for my mother-in-law. He is a fantastic physician, great bedside manner and I adore him. I would take any negative reviews on here with a grain of salt. Perhaps a truckload. He is a caring physician who is among the best in the world at what he does. He has a pathway/regimen he doesn't deviate from, which is probably the root cause of some of the complaints.

Dr. Gross resurfaced my hip in 2012. For the year prior to that I was unable to walk without a debilitating limp and extreme pain. One month after surgery I was walking 2 miles a day. Six months later I was surfing every day like I did when I was a kid with NO pain or discomfort. 4 years later I still have no issues or pain. He and his staff were extremely pleasant and patient with my many questions. They've continued follow up to this day. The negative reviews below are misguided. This man changed my life.
Side note: 10 lbs of weight equals 30-50 lbs of pressure on your joints, depending on level of activity. Dropping extra weight is one of the most effective and least invasive ways you can reduce joint pain. Sometimes the truth hurts.
